Designing with People, Not Just for Them

Designing with People, Not Just for Them

Traditional design often begins in the studio. But here at Ty Banc, we’re flipping that approach, we start with people.

From our earliest engagement workshops to co-designing temporary installations, we’ve prioritised the voices of those who use (or could use) the canal. We ask:

What do you want to see here?

What would make this space feel like yours?

Now… not to brag (ok, maybe a little), but there are actual opportunities this summer for young people to get involved. Think: future architects, project managers, community consultants, all the fun stuff kids dream about.

But honestly? Regardless of your career plans, I believe everyone on this earth (minus the aliens) has volunteered at some point. Whether it’s helping an elderly person cross the road, picking up litter at school, or offering a hand at a party, you’re already doing it.

So no, you’re not new to this game.

Volunteering is just about caring enough to act, and if you’re living here, why not help make the place better for you and your family?

Okay, emotional pep talks over.

On a serious note, younglings (yes, that was a Star Wars reference):

When do you think is the right time to start shaping your CV?

If you’re not sure, pop down for a chat.

You might just bump into a Cardiff University student who took a bold step and joined Ty Banc.

Maybe that’ll be you next.
